Qingdao Metro Line 5 Project (Section 1)

Project Description

The Qingdao Metro Line 5 Project has a total length of 14.4 km. Section 1 includes five stations and four tunnel sections, covering a total tunneling length of approximately 4,202 meters.

The project plays a key role in improving the urban rail transit network and enhancing transportation efficiency in Qingdao.

Geological Conditions

The tunnel mainly passes through slightly weathered granite, lamprophyre, and granitic porphyry, with local zones of fractured rock affected by geological structures.

The formation is characterized by high rock strength and localized instability, posing challenges to cutter wear and durability.

Cutter Solution

Based on the project’s geological conditions, high-toughness and wear-resistant cutter rings were specially designed and applied.

During operation, the cutters demonstrated excellent performance with no abnormal failures such as ring breakage, edge chipping, or uneven wear.

The optimized cutter design significantly improved tunneling efficiency and reliability under hard and fractured rock conditions.
